Since the mid-1990s, the city of Trier has been successfully converting and repurposing areas formerly used for military purposes. The action plan for this very positive development for the city is the strategic concept "Future Trier 2020", which was created and updated by the Office for Urban Development and Statistics. It defines urban development policy goals and measures on the basis of which numerous conversion projects have been successfully integrated into the city's overall development.
